Question:Mexico Durango 1708-1963

Question:Mexico Durango 1708-1963
Unable to find anything specific in FH, PI or KD.
Mexican church records for deaths from this period (early 1800s) usually record a date of internment rather than a date of death. This one is typical. Can I use the date of internment recorded by the priest for date of death?
An updated answer: "The date would be indexed and the project information will be updated to reflect that."

Country of Birth or Nationality for Community Projects
The change in this field makes it easier to index.  Type what you see taking the information first from the birth column or field on the document and then, if no information is recorded there, index exactly what is recorded in the nationality column or field.  You may see localities such as Philadelphia Pa, Panama Canal, etc.  Index them exactly as they are recorded.

1940 Census is ready

It’s finally here!

After 72 years, the 1940 US census has been released by the National Archives and Records Administration. FamilySearch is working feverishly to get the indexing projects ready. Everything is going according to plan at this point.
You can watch the list of current projects on the FamilySearch indexing website to see which states are available to index at any given time. The 1940 US Census Community Project Facebook page will also post updates as to when states are ready to be indexed.

Maintaining the Indexing System

We significantly improved the indexing system to better accommodate a huge increase in volunteers for the 1940 US census. If the system starts to run slowly, some projects (other than the census) might be removed temporarily. Once the system is stable again, we'll start returning these projects.
As per our earlier message, we strongly encourage you to consider the following guidelines to ensure the system is able to handle the load and everyone gets the opportunity to start indexing the 1940 US Census in a timely fashion.
  • Take your time getting started.
  • Avoid peak usage times (Saturday evening through Monday evening).
  • Only download as much work as you think you’ll do in an hour or two.
  • Work offline.

Browse the Images Now

While waiting for the indexing project for your favorite state, you can browse the free images now on Archives, FindMyPast, FamilySearch, or the National Archives site at 1940census.archives.gov.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience. We look forward to great progress in the coming weeks.

Ireland—Calendar of Wills and Administrations, 1858–1920

Ireland—Calendar of Wills and Administrations, 1858–1920
Some information has been adde to the project files for this project, as follows, to address issues that have arisen as this project has progressed:
• Do not index entries that are just cross-references.
• Calendar entries often included former places of residence in addition to the county of residence when the person died. Former places of residence were often shown following the phrase "formerly of…." The place of residence at the time of death was often shown with the phrase "late of…." In the Residence County field, you should index only the county of residence when the person died.
• If an individual resided outside of Ireland at the time of death, index what was shown in the calendar entry as the place of residence. If multiple levels of locality were recorded, index all levels, except street addresses, in the order they were recorded, separating each level of locality with a space.

Currently there is a film being indexed where there is no year at the top of the document.  Some of the documents have no year and others have a range of years put in the right margin such as 1834-35 or 1834.35.  We are to tab past the year field if the year is not written clearly at the top of the document.  In the post processing the event year will be way pointed (added to make the records accurate)
